I am senior geophysicist, Ph.D. of Earth Sciences. From 1964 to 2005 I had been working at the Eötvös Lorand Geophysical Institute of Hungary (ELGI), in Budapest. In 2012 ELGI and Geological Institute of Hungary (GIH ) were merged and the new institute was named Geological and Geophysical Institute of Hungary (GGIH). With merging of Hungarian Office for Mining and Geology and the Geological and Geophysical Institute of Hungary in 2017 was established the Mining and Geological Survey of Hungary.
From 2005 to 2012 I had been working at the ELGI as contractor (geophysicist and quality assurance manager).
In 1995 I started to work as geophysicist-entrepreneur as well.
Started in 1995 I develope and distribute (in abroad and Hungary) nonpolarizing electrodes PbPbCl (also known as non polarizing electrode, non polarizable electrode, "sensor", E-field probe") of high quality, manufactured by Wolf Ltd Hungary.
NONPOLARIZING ELECTRODES
Nonpolarizing electrodes are used in geoelectrical and electromagnetic surveying especially in magnetotelluric (MT), resistivity, induced polarization (IP) and spontaneous potential (SP) measurements.
Our nonpolarizing electrodes are compatible with many recorder instruments including ADU (Metronix Geophysics), MTU (Phoenix Geophysics), ZEN (Zonge International), Syscal (IRIS Instruments), etc.
On Figure 1. you can see the sketch of our nonpolarizing electrodes. They are free of potentials caused by electrochemical action between the electrodes and the ground. Their cylindrical body is made of PE, the top of PA. The body is filled up with lead chloride saturated gypsum hard gel and a lead spiral is cemented in it.
NONPOLARIZING ELECTRODE, MEDIUM (WM) TYPE (Figure 2)
Main features
Self (DC) potential of a couple: a few mV (shortly after manufacture)
Contact+internal resistance of a couple: 100-300 Ohm (shortly after manufacture, on normal ground)
Surface of the bottom: 58 cm2
Mass: about 0,8 kg
Diameter (D): 90 mm
Height (H): 80 mm
NONPOLARIZING ELECTRODE, LONG (WL) TYPE (Figure 2)
Main features
Self (DC) potential of a couple: a few mV (shortly after manufacture)
Contact+internal resistance of a couple: 100-300 Ohm (shortly after manufacture, on normal ground)
Surface of the bottom: 27 cm2
Mass: about 0,5 kg
Diameter (D): 64 mm
Height (H): 90 mm
NONPOLARIZING ELECTRODE, SMALL (WS) TYPE (Figure 2)
Main feataures
Self (DC) potential of a couple: a few mV (shortly after manufacture)
Surface of the bottom: about 7 cm2
Diameter (D): 30 mm
Height (H): 50 mm
This type is advised usually for laboratory measurements.
NONPOLARIZING ELECTRODE, LONG CERAMIC SLAB (WLC) TYPE (Figure 3)
Main fetures
Self (DC) potential of a couple: roughly 10 mV (shortly after manufacture)
Contact+internal resistance of a couple: 100-400 Ohm (shortly after manufacture, on normal ground)
Surface of the cheramic slab at the bottom of electrode: 7 cm2
Mass: about 0.6 kg
Diameter (D): 60 mm
Height (H): 100 mm
The body-block of this electrode has been manufactured from a monolithic PP rod trough turning, and the holder of the ceramic slab (made of the same material as the block) join the block of the electrode by screw-thread and sealed by O-ring.The cable outlet-body join the block also by screw-tread and sealed by O-rings.
So this electrode is usable in the very wet environment moreover under water until pressure 10 at (for example in wells in depth about 100 m).
Frost tolerant electrodes:
All types can be manufactured as frost tolerant and works properly from minus 20 to plus 50 C degree. The details see in Last developed electrodes.
For all types of the electrodes:
Flat response: from DC to 10 000 Hz
Self-noise level: 0.001 - 0.01 mV .
Temperature effect koefficient for a couple: 0,04-0,2 mV/Co, using at around 20 Co, on normal ground (see under results of test measurements, temperature effect)
Working life:
For WM, WL, WS types: 15-20 month (in case of careful using on the ground with normal conditions), not depending on the number of real mesuring days.
For WLC types: 24-36 month (in case of careful using on the ground with normal conditions), not depending on the number of real measuring days.
Connection: insulated copper or tinned copper wire (length 1- 2.5 m or more - according to the order, core 0.75 mm2).

PURCHASING INFORMATION
Basic unite prices of the electrodes from 01 January 2023, EURO/piece: medium type 114, long type 103, small type 87, long ceramic slab type 145.*
All type can be manufactured as frost tolerant (to minus 20 degrees). The basic unite prices are with 15 % higher then the related basic prices.
Ordering less then 24 pieces we have to increase the basic unite prices with 10 -15 %.
Orderable minimum quantities: for medium, long and long ceramic slab type 12 pieces, for small type 8 pieces.
We deliver always newly manufactured electrodes. The buyer usually can receive the electrodes at their address within 3-4 weeks after receipt of the order by the distributor.
